Infiltration Abatement

The pipe lining occurred in the Spring and Summer of 2019

The photos show the installation of sewer main liners.

The process involves drawing a flexible liner “sock” through the sewer main from the manholes.

The liner is then steam heated to take the shape of the pipe surrounding it and then cured, or hardened, in place.

The purpose of installing the liners is to prevent ground water from entering the sewer main through cracks and leaky pipe joints.

It is important to prevent this leakage into the sewer pipes to reduce chargeable flows to the sewage treatment plant and to preserve pipe capacity.

The infiltration abatement work is being conducted in the Nottingham section of our service district.
